Just thought I'd share a picture I took of my bookshelf, the morning after Michael Phelps did my home state of Maryland proud. My grandmother lived outside of L.A. during the 1984 games and mailed me every L.A. Times from those games. She also sent me a stuffed Sam the Olympic Eagle, which I put on a bookshelf in my office last year. I just realized what titles he is sitting between, and it made me chuckle. I especially enjoy his body language in the context of the titles he's crunched between.
